2. LIGHT A NATURAL CANDLE
Candles not only release an ambient source of light, but when properly scented, exude a calming sensual experience that relaxes tension and eases stress.
We use to not care about what kind of candle we burned, it just had to smell good. However, a little research informed us that there are definitely some things to avoid, such as any wax product that has chemicals that, when burning, release formaldehyde and other toxic soot by-products.
We ONLY burn “natural wax” candles now. Soy and coconut wax have a lower melting point than the traditional paraffin used in most candles, and produces 90% less soot than paraffin. Natural wax also binds more effectively with added aromatics, such as sandalwood, lavender etc., the soothing scents that serve the nose as well as the light soothes the eye.

This last year and a half we have battled medullary thyroid cancer, lost a father to pancreatic cancer, and faced intense heartbreak through the pandemic like many others. After having a personal encounter with death, we realized how important it is to nurture our mental and physical health. We have learned that unhandled emotional trauma, or simply just stress can manifest in your physical body, which then can lead to serious life threatening health conditions. With that said we had no choice but to incorporate mental, physical, and spiritual wellness into our KhulaRae vision.
